Cover — Vera, in the summer light
Ferragosto
The Longest Light
This week the atelier followed the light to the water. Vera in the season’s one-pieces, the eight worlds meeting the sea — the day that refuses to end. Every print began as a verse. Here it is, in full.
Every print began as a verse.
We followed the light down to the water,
and let the summer wear us thin.
the first garden, gone to seed and salt;
a green so old it forgets it is a colour.
a banner soaked in noon,
claiming nothing but the heat.
an alphabet dissolved in tide,
spelling the one word the sea keeps.
a clock the sun refuses;
here the afternoon has no end.
a line drawn in wet sand,
gone before the wave agrees.
a current that runs on light,
a shoreline breathing in colour.
the sea we were promised as children,
warm as a memory we finally keep.
a coast rendered pixel by pixel,
a paradise you can wear, if you wear it close.
Eight worlds. One shore.
Wearable art, made to order —
the longest light, unrolled, and yours to lie beneath.
