The studio

Wearable art, on demand

BKS Studio makes wearable art: all-over prints on jackets, sneakers, swimwear, bags and dresses. Every print belongs to one of eight permanent worlds — Hours, Glyph, Marker, Riviera, Pulse, Token, Flag and Origin — each with its own palette, signs and rhythm.

A piece is printed after you order it, by the print partner assigned to that garment.

The house

Terni, 2024

BKS Studio was founded in 2024, in Terni, Italy, by BAK ABO — the house behind the label.

BAK, from .bak — the copy that keeps what could be lost. ABO, from Åbo — Turku, facing the Baltic.

The ensemble

One founder. Six roles.

The atelier works as an ensemble. The founder holds the direction; the other five roles belong to the atelier's digital collaborators, each with one task and clear limits. Together they take a print from the first sign to the garment you receive.

  1. Direction

    BAK ABO, founder

    Sets the worlds, the references and the rules every other role works by. Decides which prints become pieces and which pieces stay in the catalogue.

  2. Pattern

    Composes the pezza — the tile a print repeats from — and fits it to each silhouette: scale, placement, the BKS mark.

  3. Selection

    Studies which silhouettes belong in the catalogue and which print partner makes each one, with price and delivery in view.

  4. Image

    Chooses the images, starting from the pieces themselves — product photos and print mockups — and keeps every world in its own colours.

  5. Language

    Writes in English, then adapts the texts for Italian, French, Spanish and German readers, with a glossary that keeps the names of worlds and pieces unchanged.

  6. Verification

    Reads each page we change as you will see it, in every language — text, contrast, links — and checks what it says against what the store actually does.

The signal

A print starts inside a world: a palette, a set of signs, a reference. The world sets the language before the work begins.

The pezza

The artwork is composed in the studio as a pezza — a digital tile that repeats edge to edge. It is reworked until the repeat holds and the colours stay inside the world.

The placement

The pezza is fitted to the silhouette: jacket, sneaker, swimwear, bag or dress. Scale, placement and the BKS mark are set for each product type before the piece goes on sale.

Made to order

When you order, the print partner assigned to your piece prints and assembles it. Production usually takes 2–7 business days.
